“Compartmentalized"
“Compartmentalized” The play and ongoing installation
by Precious Alfaro.
Art is revolution. It is the duty of the artist to represent the iss’ues at hand, to shine light on different protectives. My art is made purely out of rebellion, the stories I tell are not stories that are being represented currently. I write with the purpose of being honest, writing my experiences or the experiences of my neighbors, and love ones. If we would like to see change in our society we need artist to live without fear of the outcomes of their work. If we need change within our theaters, museums, art spaces we need to create it ourselves. Art is not only to please audiences that are "wealthily,” or “well educated. "
That's not the art I want to create, thats safe. My audience is; the student, the homeless man, the addict, the drug dealer, queers, POC's, the struggling mother who could never afford to see a show in one of those theaters. And why should she want to? To hear a story about a struggling mother who may never have experienced at all.
“ I think I’m dying.”
Compartmentalized" the play follows a young man forced to relive in past traumas and wake up generational curses in hopes of healing.
